Light Meter
Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes the data practices of the Android application Light Meter (the “App”). “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer identified on the App's Google Play listing. This policy applies to the current version of the App.
1. Information we collect
We do not collect personal information, sensitive information, advertising identifiers, contacts, financial information, or other identifying user data through the App. The App does not create user accounts and does not ask for a name, email address, age, or other identifying information.
Light measurements and related calculations are performed locally on the user's device and are not sent to us.
2. Camera and sensor access
To provide light-meter functionality, the App may use the device's camera and/or ambient light sensor, depending on the device and the measurement mode available.
Camera access is used only to analyze incoming image data for the purpose of estimating light levels. The App does not use the camera to record or store photos or video, does not perform facial recognition, and does not transmit camera images or video to us or to third parties.
Ambient light sensor readings, when available, are used only to calculate and display measurements inside the App. These readings are not transmitted to us.
3. Information stored locally
The App may store non-identifying settings and preferences locally on the user's device, such as measurement mode, units, calibration or exposure compensation values, and display preferences.
This information is used only to operate the App and remember the user's chosen settings. It is not transmitted to us or to advertising, analytics, or other third-party services.
4. Network access and Android permissions
The App does not require an account or a connection to a developer-controlled server in order to perform light measurements. If the Android package declares the Internet permission because of the application framework or packaging technology, that permission is not used to send personal, camera, sensor, or measurement data to us.
The App may request camera permission where camera-based metering is supported. It does not request access to contacts, phone calls, SMS messages, or precise location for its light-meter functionality.
5. Sharing, selling, and third-party services
We do not sell or share user data. The App contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, social login, or cloud account integration unless explicitly disclosed in a future version of this policy and in the applicable Google Play disclosures.
Google Play and the Android operating system may independently process data when users download, install, update, back up, or review the App. Those platform activities are controlled by Google and are governed by Google's own terms and privacy policy, not by this App.
6. Data security
Because the App does not send user measurement data to us, we do not maintain a remote database containing light readings, camera images, or personal user profiles. Locally stored preferences are protected by Android's application sandbox and the security controls of the user's device.
No storage method can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should keep their device and operating system protected and up to date.
7. Android backup
If Android backup is enabled for the device, the operating system may include the App's locally stored settings in an encrypted backup associated with the user's Google Account, or transfer them to a new device. This process is performed by Android and the user's selected backup service. We cannot access those backups.
8. Retention and deletion
Locally stored preferences remain on the device while the App is installed unless they are reset or cleared by the user. Clearing the App's storage in Android settings removes locally stored App data. Uninstalling the App also removes its on-device data, although Android may later restore backed-up settings if backup and restore are enabled.
We cannot retrieve, export, change, or delete App data remotely because the App does not send that data to us and we do not maintain user accounts.
9. Children's privacy
The App does not ask for a user's age and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Camera or sensor data used for light measurement is processed locally and is not retained or transmitted by us.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's features, permissions, data practices, or legal obligations change. The revised page will show a new “Last updated” date. We will update the policy and any required Google Play disclosures before introducing a materially different data practice.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, open the Light Meter listing in Google Play and use the email address shown under App support or Developer contact. That address is the privacy point of contact for the App.
